This project was a little different than most. I was recently contacted by a good friend who is a web developer. She had a client who needed a raster image converted to a vector image. Her client only had a raster image of this seal in one size. He wanted it in a vector format so that it could be sized for t-shirts and various merchandise. I have converted many raster images into vector format, but when I opened this image and saw that it was a pen and ink drawing, I questioned how effective my method of conversion would be. I was not sure that the vector format would pick up all of the artwork and whether I could recreate the seal exactly. Fortunately, I was able to convert the raster image to vector format. The client wanted the black, pen and ink portion of the seal to be a little sharper black. Once it was in vector format that was easily accomplished. I then went to google web fonts and located the font. I had to type the text on a circular path. Because the type follows a circle it took a lot of tracking and moving the individual letters to recreate the seal to be identical to the original. I was very pleased with the outcome, as was my friend and her client. You can view the before and after images below in the larger slideshow.
